Dramatically increased counseling services on our campuses, including creating Wellness Centers at all middle and high schools
Provided District-issued devices to all students to increase access and reduce the 'digital divide'
Established 1 year Ethnic & Social Justice Studies (ESJS) curriculum through broad stakeholder engagement process
Passed first General Obligation Bond in 25 years (2022) to raise $435M for our schools (campaign chair)
Intentionally and significantly increased staff salaries to be more competitive and retain quality educators, particularly classified staff (2022-2024)
Collaborated with parents and public health advocates to successfully ban flavored tobacco products in City of Ventura (2019)
Created two additional K-8 schools to provide educational options to students (Lemon Grove & ATLAS)
Created first All-VUSD art show to highlight student artists at Museum of Ventura County (2019)
Committed to solar panels throughout district to generate significant cost savings and reduce environmental footprint (2023); and
Initiated efforts towards Educator Work Force Housing on District Surplus Property (pending).
